Our Curriculum: IPC Early Years
The IPC Early Years program is designed for children between the ages of 3, 4 and 5. The IPC Early Years program was written by practicing early years specialists and provides the same mix of practical, rigorous support for teachers and exciting, appropriate work for children as the IPC main program for 5 to 12 year olds. The Early Years program also helps children to become familiar with the IPC learning process for each unit and better prepare them for progression to the IPC main program.
PRE-SCHOOL
- Pre-school 1: 3 year olds (also known as K-3)
- Pre-school 2: 4 year olds (also known as K-4)
These classes are half day classes for mornings (7:45 – 11:30am) and afternoons (12:45 – 4:30) Monday-Friday.
The classes are entirely in English. The curriculum is based on learning through doing, speaking, listening, playing, and singing. A large component is helping children learn to be aware of others, to share, and to enjoy play. During play there is much language and the children learn without knowing that they are learning.
Pre-school is an excellent preparation for whole day school. In terms of English acquisition it is just the right time to learn.
Kindergarten : 5 years old (also known as K-5)
The children study the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. They also have Art, Sport, Computer, Swimming, Music and Library. It is a language intensive program with: learning through doing, speaking, listening, drawing, playing, and singing. It is the year they are formally taught letters and sounds in English and begin to read and write stories.
